so i saw an argument on ESPN First Take a little while ago that said “eli manning is better than tom brady. period”.
let that soak in.
let’s not forget all of the arguments claiming that “eli manning is better than peyton manning”.
the # of super bowl wins that a quarterback has under his belt shouldn’t be a testament to his own prowess, but his TEAM’s prowess. there are 10 other guys on the field with the QB on offense, 11 more on defense, and 11 more on special teams. there is so much more to winning a football game than stellar quarterback play.
eli manning had a great season. on the level of peyton or tom? not even CLOSE.
the bottom line is that a football game is won as a team. while sometimes elite quarterbacks can have a huge impact on a game, they can also sometimes just be along for the ride. judging quarterbacks by the number of rings they have is ridiculous to me.
[e.g. remove brady from the patriots: 11-5. remove peyton from the colts: 2-14. team/system is critical]
however, this is not to take away from the giants victory. congrats to the giants! just dont talk about eli>peyton!
